Sepp-Herberger Awards: This shows the integrative power of football
On the occasion of the 125th anniversary of the birth of the former world champion coach Sepp Herberger, cash prizes totaling 125,000 euros were awarded. A total of 14 clubs or initiatives for their work have been made in recent months.
More specifically: Nine winners were honored in the categories "Handicap football", "Resocialization" and "School and Association". In addition, three prize winners in which together with the SAP software group "Football Digital" category. In the category "Social Work", together with the Horst Eckel Foundation, a special prize was awarded to three clubs, which are committed to a family, which has suffered a bad fate in August 2021. With the Franz Beckenbauer Foundation, on top of that, a football foundation for its exemplary work was excellent for the first time.
"This shows the integrative power of football," said the new president of the German Football Federation, Bernd Neuendorf, in his speech on this Monday evening. "These are luminous examples of voluntary commitment - especially at the base."
It goes to integration, inclusion and "many other topics in the social area. That's praise and worthy. We are here today," says Neuendorf.
